Greg took Kennedy on a Daddy/Daughter weekend last weekend to Whitehall, Wisconsin. We have some friends that used to work at Fort Wilderness with us that have started a new camp. It is called Harvest Home Farms. They have a beautiful setting in the woods with lots of land. They have lots of animals already. Kennedy, of course, loved the horses. She is an animal girl so she like them all. Below are some shots of her with just a few of the different animals they have. It was a great weekend for the two of them. They took hikes, rode horses, went swimming and had fun with friends. Mike and Becky have four kids, two girls then two boys. Their second daughter is the same age as Kennedy and they had a great time together. Kennedy has already asked when she can go back. We would like to go as a family next time.

Calgone Take Me Away!
Wow! It has been two non-stop days for us. Monday we left the house at 7:30am and got home at 6:30pm. I did have one half hour stop at home in there to sort out school supplies and see what I still needed to pick up. Once home I quickly fixed dinner, a plate to go for me, and headed to church for a MOPS meeting. Home around 9:30pm to watch the Olympics then off to bed around midnight for a nice restful sleep. Restful it was not! Mackenzie has had a nasty cough since Friday and has not been able to sleep at night or for naps. This, of course, started the day that Greg took Kennedy to WI for their Daddy/ Daughter Weekend away (I'll post pictures of that tomorrow.). That meant no sleep for Mommy as I had to rock Mackenzie most of the night to keep her upright so she could sleep a little. Anyway, Tuesday dawned very early with us leaving the house around 7:30am again. (Another home around 6:30pm, too.) It actually started much earlier for me as Mackenzie came into the room around 2:15am, just a couple of hours after I had gone to sleep, crying and saying her ear hurt. I knew I had to take her to the Dr. when they opened but I also knew I didn't have a spare minute in our schedule. I was taking Madison and her friend Maggie to see the play The Princess and the Pea in the morning and then to lunch. After that we picked up the girls and took Madison to a birthday party, Kennedy to a play date and an Awana planning meeting for me. Mackenzie was staying with Greg's parents for the morning and they were picking Kennedy up from tennis at noon for me. His mom offered to take Mackenzie to the Dr. for me and so off they went for a 10:30am "ear check". This is the first appointment I have not taken one of the girls to. Of course this would be the one that was NOT a quick in and out. They had just gotten home minutes before I got there around 1pm. Yes, I was right, she has an ear infection. What I didn't know was that the cough was not just a congested cough. The Dr. heard wheezing and crackling in her lungs. Not a good thing. So, they sent her home with a nebulizer. She did have one treatment at the office which she fought with all her might and let me tell you, she is one strong two year old. In fact I heard it took Grandma and two nurses to do it. She was not real great for me last night or this morning, but I did manage to do it on my own. The girls did try to keep her entertained though. I am not sure what I would have done without Gramma and Papa yesterday. Well, not just yesterday, they have bailed me out a few times this summer. Thanks Mom and Dad! Today is just tennis camp for Kennedy this morning and tennis lessons for Madison this afternoon. Actually, I do have to find the floors in my house again today. I think this may require child labor! Looking forward to cooler and less busy days. Hope you are all enjoying your summer.

My not so helpful helper!
No pictures today, just a funny story! Today I was in the basement doing some laundry when Mackenzie came down to "help". I was just finishing up folding the stuff from the dryer so she helped grab the last few socks. I then opened the washer and started to pull the laundry out. I love the smell of the fabric softener so I put the first handful up to my nose and smelled it. Anyway, I put in a few handfuls and then Mackenzie wanted to help. I would pull the stuff out, check it for stains then hand it to her to put in the dryer. After several handfuls I looked over at her and saw her putting every piece of clothing up to her nose. But, instead of smelling them, she blew her nose on each of them! At first I was mad because now I had to rewash the entire load and I still had a few loads waiting, but that only lasted a second because it was so funny watching her. She was so proud of the way she was helping. I asked her if she was smelling them and she told me no, that she had to blow he nose. Oh well. It only set me back a 34 minute wash cycle and gave me a great laugh for the day. Hope you are laughing to!
